Homemade Taco Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound large shells of pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning (or 1 packet)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup jarred salsa
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Begin by cooking the large shells of pasta according to the package instructions until they are al dente. This typically takes about 8-10 minutes. Drain the cooked pasta and set it aside.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Once the beef is browned, drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the taco seasoning to the cooked beef, followed by 3/4 cup of water. Stir the mixture well and continue to cook, allowing the water to simmer and thicken until it’s mostly absorbed by the beef. This will create a flavorful taco meat.
  4. Combine the cooked pasta, jarred salsa, and shredded cheddar cheese with the seasoned beef. Stir the ingredients together, allowing the cheese to melt and coat the pasta and meat.
  5. Continue to cook for a few minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  6. Serve your homemade Taco Pasta hot. You can garnish it with additional cheese, chopped fresh cilantro, or a dollop of sour cream for extra flavor and presentation.
